Question about hierarchical centering and MCMC diagnostics

Dears, I have a problem with MCMC in R2MLwiN. I want to build up three-level model with hierarchical centering (HC), but now MLwiN only allows to select one level (level-2 or level-3) to incorporate HC. The MCMC-web mentioned that it's okay to apply HC with three-level model, but I don't know how to...

Re: Question about the re-coded level-1 variables

Dear Chris, Thanks. I have read the manual you mentioned, and I think maybe R2MLwiN would treat ordered factors as un-ordered categorical factors. In my case, as the predictor is not a strict ordered factor (e.g. one level of "Age" is 55+), thus I could just treat it as un-ordered categori...

Re: Question about the re-coded level-1 variables

Thanks, Chris. The "Age" here is an ordered factor, and I have recorded it using Polynomial Coding, and there is also this function in MLwiN. And once I tick this choice when I add the individual variable, the result shows that it only estimates the coefficient of reference level (e.g. Her...

Question about the re-coded level-1 variables

Dear, Hello, I have a problem with the output of a binary model in R2MLwiN. I have recoded an ordered level-1 variable (1<2<3<4) and input it for a three level binary model using MCMC. In the output, it only shows the coefficient of its reference level but not of other three levels as for unordered ...

Re: Error when running 2-level ordinal model in R2wiN

Hi Paul,

It works for me now. Thanks a lot! And when I install this new version of R2MLwiN in R3.4.0, it doesn't work. However, after updating R version into R3.4.2, it works now. Just want to mention this problem here for others' reference. Again many thanks for your help.

Regards.

Re: Error when running 2-level ordinal model in R2wiN

Hi Chris, Many thanks for your help. And I will read the documents you suggested carefully. I have another problem when fitting a model using R2MLwiN when I explored a random effect of one individual variable (random slope random intercept model). And the error is shown in the bottom. I have read se...

Re: Error when running 2-level ordinal model in R2wiN

Hello! I have used the linearHypothesis to check the proportional odds (PO) assumption in my 2-level model. Result of Wald test using linearHypothesis: .......................chisq.........Pr(>Chisq)...... FP_Age2_1234 6.311407258 0.097404346 FP_Age3_1234 11.96573783 0.007501455 FP_Age4_1234 9.43805...

Re: Error when running 2-level ordinal model in R2wiN

Thanks for your answer. I will try to increase the iteration number or build up more chains. Another problem is that for the new version of R2MLwiN, is there any function I could use to test the proportional odds assumption? And is it possible to compare two models estimated by IGLS (PQL2).
