Re: using runmlwin in batch mode on Unix

Dear Chris,
thank you very much, your version of the runmlwin.ado seems to fix it. After it worked again, I accidentally updated the runmlwin.ado with the ssc-version and the same error occurred.
Thanks, Janna

Re: using runmlwin in batch mode on Unix

Hi,
since updating MacOS, I cannot run mlnscript script / runmlwin.ado anymore, I get the ".. invalid name" error in Stata. I just downloaded the latest version of the mlnscript, the error remains. Thanks very much for any advice here!

Re: runmlwin and Linux?

Dear Chris, it works! I tried out and changed some things, first I made sure that Stata is able to access the "original" wine directory. Even with quotes, blanks obviously created problems, so I changed the folder names. This is the current mlwin.sh: #!/bin/sh /usr/local/bin/wine mlwin.exe...

Re: runmlwin and Linux?

Dear Chris, yes, I changed the path: previously, the mlwin.exe and .sh were in the (hidden) wine-directory (/Users/janna/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/MLwiN 2.32/i386/), however, Stata was not able to access this path (I could not change into this directory), so I copied the whole MLwiN-Folder to a ne...

Re: runmlwin and Linux?

Dear Chris, many thanks for your quick response! Now, I specified the path within the runmlwin command as follows "mlwinpath(/mlwin/mlwin/i386/mlwin.sh)". When I run this, Stata responds: "The model did not run properly in MLwiN. You most likely clicked the 'Abort Macro' > button in M...

Re: runmlwin and Linux?

Dear Chris, dear all, I am trying to setup Stata and runmlwin on my Macbook, having followed your instructions (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/cmm/software/mlwin/features/sysreq.html). I used the wine solution, and I am able to run MLwiN in wine from the terminal. However, I need to use Stata and the runm...

MCMC estimation

Hi, I am currently running some analyses with runmlwin and mcmc estimation. Since mcmc options are not included in the help file yet, is there anything more to regard than the burn in / chain length and starting values option ? Currently I set up a hierarchical three level model with PISA data (28 c...
