Re: rmatrix_list already allocated
My guess would be that this is either caused by a corrupted worksheet, or a bug in the software. If it is the former then clearing the model and setting it up again might fix it. If it is the latter then I suggest reporting it at the following address: http://www.cmm.bristol.ac.uk/MLwiN/tech-support...

Re: Ordinal variables as a response
You should be able to choose the missing value in the "Listwise" screen by clicking in the box to the right of "Listwise delete on value" and pressing the "m" key. Did you try this, and if so what was the error message/problem that you got?

Re: CPU Time
If you are running from macros you can also use the TIME command.
To start the timer use the command:
TIME 1
To report the elapsed time use:
TIME 0
or
TIME 0 <b>
if you want to store the time into a box.
An advantage of this command is that it does provide fractions of seconds.

Re: Opening STATA .dta as worksheet MLwiN 2.18
There is unfortunately a bug in version 2.18 which means that it does not correctly import columns defined as text (this affects Stata, SPSS and pasted ASCII text). This will be fixed in the next release. Possible workarounds are to convert the column into numbers with labels before importing, to us...

Re: MLwiN download not working
Could you please provide some addition information, for example: Did you install MLwiN before or after upgrading to Windows 7? If before then does uninstalling and reinstalling MLwiN work any better? Did you install MLwiN with administrative privileges? Could you give some information about what hap...

Re: negative binomial error message
Could you please try the following?: Open the file C:\Program Files\MLwiN\v2.16\discrete\bvar in a text editor change the line: case 2 : negative binomial - constrain first var in group to case 2 : note negative binomial - constrain first var in group save the file and see if your model now gets any...

Re: Adding a new variable in an existing dataset of MLwin
The command being generated by the "sort" window is being more verbose than is necessary in your case as it is writing out each column name involved in the sort separately. Because you are sorting most of your data you can specify a range of columns instead, preventing you from exceeding t...

Re: Adding a new variable in an existing dataset of MLwin
I think that you should be able to use MLwiN sort functionality (Data Manipulation->Sort, or the SORT command) to reorder your data so it is ordered by identification number. Once you have both sets of data in the same order then you should be able to copy variables from one to another. Of course yo...

Re: Adding a new variable in an existing dataset of MLwin
If you have the data in a text file then you can use the ASCII text input commands to add these variables to an existing worksheet. The easiest way of doing this is via the File->ASCII text file input menu. Alternatively you can use the "paste" button in the "names" window add va...

Re: Model output
There is currently no way to change the number display format via a command. This option will exist in the next release (2.16).
