Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

I'm not sure I'm following this. The file out.dta has 127 betas, but each has only has 10 observations. It seems like these chains should be much longer. And how would I use the chain variable to divide the sample? Nothing in the MLwin manual seems to shed any light and I can't get the MCMCColumnDia...

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

So I wanted to provide a little context here. Leaving aside ivh for the moment and considering other variables, you can see on the attached document some of the problems I'm having. Unlike MLwin, there are fewer options for adjustment in the imputation template, so any direction you can provide woul...

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

We've been on holiday across the pond and I was swamped before that, so I just got to feed my results into MLWin for a look at the diagnostic plots on my ivh model. The time series trace doesn't look great and the density trace was skewed and multimodal. I used 5000 iterations between imputations. T...

Bounding of values in 2LevelImpute

I think the answer to this question is no, but I'll pose it anyway. Suppose I have an outcome variable (y) with missing data that has four possible values (0-3). Say the first two are for those who survive (x=0) and the last two for non-survivors (x=1). Therefore, imputations for missing data for x=...

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

Don't see them in the viewing pane-there's a work file there. Thanks for the work around using the diagnostics template. I'll give that a try.

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

Ok. I'm getting output. Will evaluate when I have time. One problem I'm having is that when I go to Dataset>Choose I can only see .dta files. Nothing else is visible, including the .svg files. Without the graphs, it will be difficult to assess the mixing properties of my imputations. What do you thi...

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

That pretty much confirms what I was thinking. Thanks for your help. I'm running the ivh model now. We'll see how things turn out...

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

Thanks for your response. This raises a few of questions: 1) Do the answers to questions specifying the model of interest have any effect? 2) If so, what distribution should be chosen for multinomial outcomes? 3) Should I choose yes for the MVN update for beta? 4) It seems that there should be a que...

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

Thank you. The documentation for 2LevelImpute talks about the latent normal model used in the MOI (at least for single level models). if says: For an ordered categorical response a similar procedure is used with additionally a set of thresholds defined on the standard normal scale that delineate the...

Re: Random intercept vs. random slopes in 2LevelImpute

Thanks for your response. To obtain the files I followed the template instructions by going to Dataset>Choose, selecting the file, and downloading via Dataset>Download. These files appeared in a list that included the example files that shipped with StatJR. I downloaded everything that looked like i...
