Re: listwise deletion
You can use the data manipulation->Listwise menu to do this in the following way: type "m" into the "Listwise delete on value" box select the variables that you want to listwise delete click "same as input" click "add to action list" click "execute" ...

Re: Starting values
Unfortunately there is currently no way to set initial values for parameters in the released version of Realcom, however this is something that we may investigate in the future.
Sorry that we couldn't provide a better answer.

Re: duplicate cases
I am not familiar with the TIMMS dataset however, except for cross-classified MCMC models, MLwiN uses changes in identifiers rather than their values to determine the unit numbers. For example for the following data: student school 1 1 2 1 1 2 2 2 1 1 2 1 1 2 2 2 MLwiN will interpret this as there b...

Re: Imputed Datasets - Stand Alone
There are currently no options for specifying how the imputed data is saved from Realcom, however as the data should be in the same order as your original file you could generate a variable based on the record number in both files and then merge on this.

Re: Negative binomial multilevel model
Professor Harvey Goldstein has provided the following additional information in relation to your questions: 1) The level 1 variance is pi + pi^2/v. 2) Strictly speaking the extra negative binomial model is, like the extra Poisson just a way of allowing for a variance that is more complex than that g...

Re: Estimating multiple equations simultaneously
Your guess is fairly close, however when you specify discrete options for multivariate models with runmlwin you need to specify them for all the equations including those with normal responses. I believe that the correct form for your example model would be something like: . use http://www.bristol.a...

Re: Negative binomial multilevel model
The parameter being missing from the equations window was an oversight and will be displayed in future versions of MLwiN. In the mean time you can obtain the estimate for this by either using the "store model results" functionality or by looking at "level 1" section under Model->...

Re: MlWin 2.27 and unsplit records
Thanks for reporting this bug, it will be fixed in the next release. Unfortunately there isn't a way to make this window work with this version, however as you indicated it is also possible to perform this operation with command. If you have a lot of output variables then it is possible to specify a...

Re: Design vector problem
I would need to see the worksheet to be able to get an idea of exactly why this is occurring. Does the data contain missing values, and in particular are there entire higher level units that are missing? If that is the case it may be worth listwise deleting these and seeing whether you still get the...
