MLWIN on Linux

Post by gav8882017 »

Is it possible to run MLWIN in Linux using Wine?
Or alternatively, using R and R2MLWIN?

Thank you

PS. I run Linux Mint 18.

Yes, you should be able to run MLwiN via R2MLwiN using the scripting version, or the via the GUI using Wine (see http://www.bristol.ac.uk/cmm/software/m ... .html#unix). We don't currently provide a package specifically for Linux Mint, however as it is based on Ubuntu you may find that one of the packages built for this work.

Thank you, the 32 bit version works in Wine but not the 64.
Regarding using it via R, do I need to do anything to make the package work and 'find' MLWIN?

Cheers,
G

If you're using one of the Linux scripting versions downloadable from https://www.cmm.bris.ac.uk/clients/softwaredownload/ then R2MLwiN should look in the default installation directory and find them automatically. If you're using the GUI version via Wine then you will need to point to the executable manually via the MLwiN_path option (for more detail see the text when the package is loaded).
