STATA keeps running overnight without results

Post by annajoseph »

Hi, I use runlwin to do a multilevel model. My data size is around 170,000. I left stata running over 24 hours. There is still no result and stata keeps running. Is it normal that stata runs over 24 hours? Should I leave it running for several days? Or Is there any other problem?

Many thanks!!!

It can take large models a long time to run before you get any results. I would suggest however checking task manager to see whether there is any processor activity related to the model run. If you have the GUI version of MLwiN running the model then I would also suggest switching to this to see whether any messages are provided there.

Is the GUI version operated on Mac?

You can run it under Wine (see http://www.bristol.ac.uk/cmm/software/m ... ysreq.html), however this currently only allows the 32-bit version to run and the installation is a bit harder than using the native scripting version.
