Error message with multiple imputation macro

Post by mlcarre1 »

Hi, I've been trying to use the multiple imputation macro (mi) downloaded from the missingdata.org website for missing level 1 data in my 3 level model. I managed to use it successfully on a 2 level model but MLwiN kept crashing when I tried it with a 3 level model. I updated my version of MLwiN in case that was the problem but now using the macro gives an error message: "error while obeying batch file mi_process.txt at line number 54: pref pre Pre or Post file pre does not exist."

I followed the advise from the FAQs and set my directories to the correct location but still no luck. Just finding this strange as the macro was working fine before the software update and nothing else has changed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lesley

Did MLwiN give an error message when it crashed? If so could you provide the details?

You shouldn't need to set the macros manually, although the mi macros may be doing so (I don't have a copy of them). It may be that you just need to remove the lines starting PRE and POST from the macros. It might also be worth asking on the missingdata.org group (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/missing-data) to see if they have come across this problem before.
