Df

Post by Amymultilevel »

Hey everyone

I am working with MLwin for the first time. In my studie I have 1
dependent variable and I'm adding 4 parameters at the model. One of
those 4 parameters is educational track. This variable consists of 3
tracks: the general, the technical and the vocational track. The
general track is the referece category. In this study, I'm not using
interaction effects.

In my analysis I used 1 df for each X^2-test. I rode that you have to
use 2 df when you add 2 parameters at the model. Is this in case of
interaction-effects? Or is this what I have to do when I'm adding the
variable 'educational track'? It's kind of confusing for me.

Thank you in advance.

You need a degree of freedom for each parameter in that part of the model, e.g. for the fixed part you need one for each of the betas.
